NEW THIS WEEK AT THE SHOP:

PREORDER THE NEW FIONA APPLE!
The most impactful new release of the quarantine era is coming to our beloved physical formats! 'Fetch the Bolt Cutters', the long awaited new album from singular artist FIONA APPLE will be available on CD and LP on July 17th. To preorder your copy of the CD or LP, please go HERE.

We are super excited to announce that Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit will be allowing Indie Record Stores to sell their highly anticipated new album one week early! Here is a note from the band: "As a thank you for all the support over the years, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will be opening sales for their new album, Reunions, a week early exclusively for independent record stores. These are strange times we live in and the hope is that getting a jump start on sales of the album will be of some help to you in a time of need. Jason and the band look forward to seeing you again in person when they get back on the road. Hang in there!"

Legendary songwriter LUCINDA WILLIAMS emerges with 'Good Souls, Better Angels', a raw, fiery new album that's unflinchingly political.

A lovely new album is in from pop crooner HAZEL ENGLISH on the Polyvinyl label, giving us big Jenny Lewis and Frankie Rose vibes.

The Blue Note Tone Poet series arrives at one of the most transcendent small-group albums in their vast catalog, DUKE ELLINGTON's 'Money Jungle'. This post-bop masterpiece finds the elder statesman Ellington playing with two emerging greats of a younger generation, CHARLES MINGUS and MAX ROACH, and the gaps they bridge here would influence countless future musicians. You could fill a book with the amount of complaints on pressing quality for various versions of this album over the years, so Blue Note have put that all to rest with this audiophile edition.

The archival expedition through the phantasmagoric catalog of ARIEL PINK hits the heart of the batting order this week with new editions of 'Doldrums', 'Worn Copy', and 'House Arrest'. These turn of the century albums find the demigod of lofi pop in a state of feverish production, cranking out glowing, strange ditties at an overwhelming pace.

Saxophone and electronics are the tools used by PATRICK SHIRIOSHI on his volcanic new album of dark soundscapes, 'Descension'. Poignant flashes of roughed-out noise and heaving drones lead this LP down an odd, fascinating path between dark ambient, jazz and black metal.

Last week brought a new record from Richard Bishop of the Sun City Girls, and now we get a new one from his brother Alan's band the DWARFS OF EAST AGOUZA. Alongside Maurice Louca and Sam Shalabi, this trio crafts eternally-rewarding improvised trance-rock.

Aussie post-punk quartet PRIMO! return with a second album of
high-quality jangle with lots of nods to classic groups like the Au Pairs and the Delta 5.

It's been a good while since we heard new material from Italian producer LORENZO SENNI, who has found many ways to reinvent the maligned genre of 'trance' over the years. 'Scacco Matto' finds him continuing to play with dimension and structure within brightly reflective techno mirrorworlds.
