Record Store Day 2025 Wishlist is Live

Click https://shop.strictlydiscs.com/pages/record-store-day-2025 for 3 easy steps:

1) Create an account
2) Fill out a Wishlist form
3) Pick your RSD Wishlist titles!

All wishlists are due Sunday, February 16th!

Every year, we go big for Record Store Day. And it all starts with you telling us what you want. Your wishlists help us pick which RSD titles we should snag for you. And how much of that sweet wax we should get from our suppliers.

While you’re there, feel free to browse around shop.strictlydiscs.com. Our new website features new AND used vinyl titles ready for purchase online via in-store pickup or global shipping. It also features an overview and early adopter signup for our soon-to-launch Strictly Record Club.

Change is hard. So our trusty strictlydiscs.com will still be fully-functional for a couple months. More to come there, as we’re stoked about our full jump to the Shopify platform and what it means for our customers in-store and online.

Happy wishing on what is the deepest and most eclectic RSD list we’ve seen in a long time!

New This Week At The Shop

Hello hello newsletter readers. This week's new release rundown comes from a mini-vacation in Lawrence, Kansas, where I've been posted up at local record zone Love Garden all week, making sure all of their LPs are in order. A major hat tip to Mark and Rick for fielding this week's new arrivals in my absence; they've stayed busy! Goldening girl SABRINA CARPENTER's pop smash 'Short n' Sweet' pulled in two Grammys last week, and now celebrates with a new 'Deluxe Edition' on double blue vinyl, and five new songs, including a new version of "Please Please Please" that sees her joined by none other than Dolly Parton. The songwriting duo behind THE LUMINEERS have been working together for over twenty years, and the indie-folk outfit celebrates with their fifth studio album, 'Automatic', in the house on limited "orchid and tangerine" colored vinyl. Bronx drill rapper ICE SPICE sees her 2024 debut album 'Y2K!' finally come to the vinyl format, and we've got a fresh edition of the 1994 debut album from pop-R&B phenom BRANDY in on LP as well.
Chicago artrock trio HORSEGIRL explores new facets of their sound on their second album for Matador, 'Phonetics On and On'. Cate Le Bon takes the production helm for this one, leading the young group away from the feedback and distortion of their debut. The cover art nod to Spacemen 3 can only be a good sign, as well. Another Chicago trio that continues to evolve is FACS, who swap some members and instrumental roles for a new album of raw tension called 'Wish Defense', which also holds the distinction of being the very last record worked on by Steve Albini. Oklahoma indie-rap genre mutilator BARTEES STRANGE continues to serve up the unexpected on 'Horror', and we've got a crucial reissue of the 2009 debut album by Aussie post-punk trio HTRK; 'Marry Me Tonight' was produced by the legendary Rowland S. Howard, and is back on limited pink and black wax.
The Canadian dance label Mood Hut released a couple of 2024's best records, but they've been in such high demand that we are just starting to see them trickle in now. Label mainstay JACK J makes a mighty return with 'Blue Desert', a second album of downtempo sophistipop that halves the distance between Arthur Russell and diva house. Fans of his last album 'Opening the Door' (also back in stock) will be delighted at Jack's continued exploration of the frontier of chillout. The Canadian duo ORO AZUL's enchanting mini-album 'Water Seeds' was another '24 gem; this woozy dembow rainstick is back in stock again. The experimental folk ensemble PENGUIN CAFE ORCHESTRA established their own genre of cerebral and playful chamber pop with their run of late 70s albums for the Editions EG label, several of which get their first vinyl reissues in several decades.
Just a few months after celebrating his 100th birthday, the Sun Ra Arkestra's MARSHALL ALLEN releases his first ever solo album, a cerebral trip of cosmic bebop featuring other longtime members of the Arkestra, plus guest vocals from Neneh Cherry. Jazz fusion meets house delirium on the classic 'Sceneries Not Songs' by legendary producer LARRY HEARD, while the Verve/Acoustic Sounds teamup delivers fresh editions of some early jazz gems from BETTY CARTER and BILL HENDERSON.
Thrifty folk-rock collagists CALIFONE return with another haunting classic called 'The Villager's Companion'. Veteran PA slowcore pioneers THE INNOCENCE MISSION check in with 'Midwinter Swimmers'. New Zealand etherealist NADIA REID is back with 'Enter Now Brightness'. The Numero Group rescue a Y2K-era CD only obscurity with a revamped edition of HER SPACE HOLIDAY's mopey take on DIY post-emo, 'Home Is Where You Hang Yourself'.
Berlin producer PERILA returns to the Smalltown label with another collection of sonically-charged dust motes called 'Intrinsic Rhythm'. Swedish artist CIVILISTJAVEL! keeps things even more aqueous and dubflecked on the ineffable 'Brodfoda'. The splendiferous French dance producer FKJ collects over a dozen live performances from all over the globe on '22_23 Live Sessions'. A few decades on from changing the DJ game with a legendary run of 12s, SOUND STREAM keeps the playful, floor-forward disco-house tradition going with a new double album called 'Disco Fantasy'.
Last up, a reissue of SOUL COUGHING's classic 'Ruby Vroom', Numero's latest foray into countrified R&B, 'Barnyard Beehive', wonky rapper JON GLACIER's latest, and a reissue of the hilarious OPEN MIKE EAGLE and PAUL WHITE album, 'Hella Personal Film Festival.
