After 30 million albums sold, 13 No. 1 jazz albums in the United States, and a film, television and music career spanning three decades, Harry Connick, Jr. returns with a new sound, new label home and new record, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter.
Focused exclusively on the songs of Cole Porter and his Great American Songbook, the sensational recording demonstrates Connick’s multitude of talents as pianist, singer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor, breathing new life into popular tunes including “Just One of Those Things,” “Anything Goes” and “You Do Something To Me.”

On the heels of release of his new song "10/10," Rex Orange County has announced details for his new album Pony. This highly-anticipated album is the follow up to 2017's Apricot Princess. The album was written, recorded, and performed almost entirely by Rex himself at Strongroom Studios in East London with frequent collaborator Ben Baptie co-producing, engineering and mixing the album. Rolling Stone has hailed the single "10/10" as "triumphant" and a "song you need to know," and the track was described by NPR as "a sincere, sad-boy gem." The album follows standout performances at a handful of major festivals this year, including UK's Glastonbury (where he first debuted "10/10"), Paris' We Love Green, Berlin's Lollapalooza, and Australia's Laneway Festival. Rex Orange County, born Alexander O Connor, is a 21 year old English recording artist and songwriter. To date, he has independently amassed over 1 billion streams, and self-released two albums - bcos u will never b free (2016) and Apricot Princess (2017). He was also featured on Tyler The Creator's 2017 album, "Flower Boy". His singles "Best Friend", "Loving Is Easy", and "Sunflower" are well over 125 million streams each, with "Loving Is Easy" now being RIAA certified Gold in the US and Australia. His 2018 highlights include his television debut on Jimmy Fallon (performing "Loving Is Easy"), and extensive touring including an epic performance at Glastonbury, where he closed out the Park Stage with his Sunday headline slot.

'Tombstone Every Mile' was Bill Kirchen's first solo album, but it has been unavailable for many years. Originally released in 1993 it featured him in his Washington DC based trio. Fellow DC area guitar man Danny Gatton was to produce the disc, but by the third day of recording he still hadn't shown up, so Bill ended up self-producing with engineer Ed Eastridge. Bass man Jeff Sarli had already played with artists on the Black Top label out of New Orleans, Robert Ward for one, so Bill pitched it there and they agreed to release it in USA. Kirchen then approached Jake Riviera at Demon, who he knew from making the Moonlighters disc with Nick Lowe, and they released it in Europe. The album reflects what they were doing working the Honky-Tonks in DC and points beyond. Kirchen hadn't been writing much material post-Commander Cody, and was perfectly happy singing Dick Curless, Bob Wills and Buck Owens etc all night. So, he called on song writing friends like Blackie Farrell, Nick Lowe and Austin de Lone, who came through with some ideal material for the album, inspiring Bill to manage a couple of serviceable originals which remain in the repertoire to this day. The 2019 edition is available on CD 12"" vinyl LP and digital formats.

Personally curated by Quentin Tarantino himself, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is a love letter to the music of 1960s-era Hollywood. Multi-GRAMMY nominated and multi-platinum British singer/songwriter James Blunt will release his sixth studio album Once Upon A Mind on October 25th featuring the new single “Cold”. After flirting with electronica on his last album, Blunt returns to what he does best on Once Upon A Mind – writing classic songs that touch both the heart and the head. Once Upon A Mind sees Blunt collaborating with a variety of producers resulting in a freshness that resonates throughout the eleven-song collection, with highlights including the poignant ballad “Monsters,” pop-infused “5 Miles” and the country tinged “Halfway.”
“I think this is the most honest album I have ever made” said Blunt. “’Back To Bedlam’ was similar in that I had been writing those songs for a while about my life experiences at that time, and they came together on my debut. And every song on this album represents something that I’m currently going through or have recently experienced. It’s a very personal record, and I’m proud I can share it.”
Guided by Voices is now an unlikely candidate for the most perfect rock band of all time, while at the same time being a thoughtful reflection on what a rock band is, a fantasy that becomes a fact. Sweating The Plague, the band's 29th album and their third this year, spars playfully with stadium-sized fidelity and uncharacteristically impactful arrangements. Producer Travis Harrison's counterintuitive approach to Guided by Voices' historically lo-fi sound is that he doesn't want it to sound homemade, while the grinding tectonic plate guitars of Doug Gillard and Bobby Bare Jr. Anchor the album. Play it loud! Being a fan of Guided by Voices can feel like standing in a ticker-tape parade and reaching out to grab at stray releases as the endless flurry of output from the Needmore Songs publishing house billows around-but here's twelve compatible nuggets of Pollard content in one handy package, all boxed up and ready to go.
Formed in 2003, Editors became one of the leading bands in the post-punk revival that swept England and America in the early 2000's. Following their 2005 debut, The Back Room, they went on to top the U.K. charts, releasing five more studio albums, including 2018's Violence. Black Gold - Best of Editors culls favorites from across their entire catalog and includes three all new songs: ''Frankenstein'', ''Black Gold'' and ''Upside Down.''This collection is a must-have for fans and the perfect introduction for new listeners.
For The Shivas, the show has always been the thing. That thing being a bombastic, explosive and thoroughly communal live rock and roll experience where barriers between the performers and their audience seem to dissolve into the sweat and sound. It’s the stage—or the basement, or the living room—that’s the Portland band’s true element. It’s their raison d’etre. It’s their religion.. The album is a defining sonic achievement for the band, which began booking their own tours in high school. The group blasted their way through Portland’s storied and unsanctioned mid-aughts house show scene. Since then they have played over 1,000 shows spread over 25 countries, meeting new fans and friends from Belgrade to Mexico City. But The Shivas—guitarist/singer Jared Molyneux, bassist Eric Shanafelt and drummer/singer Kristin Leonard have all been with the band since its earliest days; guitarist Jeff Boyardee joined in 2017—still speak about their project with a DIY humility that sounds like their native Pacific Northwest. They talk up their own favorite bands, play all-ages shows whenever possible, and they bring a sort of blue-collar humanism to the live performances they relish so much. “We just want to make people feel good,” guitarist/ singer Jared Molyneux says. “We want them to forget they have to work tomorrow.” Dark Thoughts is the sound of a tight-knit band whose members have learned not just how to trust each other, but how to grow together. “Being adults now,” Leonard says. “We’re starting to talk a lot more philosophically about why we do what we do. Some of my favorite music came from people needing to find a space. Music is just such a visceral place to find a release.” That’s what The Shivas are here for: to help people get free, if even just for an hour. If they drop a few great albums along the way, so be it.
Written and produced by Michael Gira, Leaving Meaning is Swans fifteenth studio album and features contributions from recent and former Swans, members of Angels of Light as well as guest artists Anna and Maria von Hausswolff, Ben Frost, The Necks, Baby Dee, and a Hawk and a Hacksaw.Michael Gira explains, "Leaving Meaning is the first Swans album to be released since I dissolved the lineup of musicians that constituted Swans from 2010 - 2017. Swans is now comprised of a revolving cast of musicians, selected for both their musical and personal character, chosen according to what I intuit best suits the atmosphere in which I'd like to see the songs I've written presented. In collaboration with me, the musicians, through their personality, skill and taste, contribute greatly to the arrangement of the material. They're all people whose work I admire and whose company I personally enjoy.
Cigarettes After Sex return with their anticipated sophomore album - Cry via Partisan Records. Ukrainian progressive groove metal wrecking machine JINJER have returned with their long awaited new album Macro and once again prove why the unique blend of singer Tatiana Shmaylyuk‘s beautifully aggressive harmonies and vocal hooks, and the bands sheer technical brilliance and precision have set them apart from the pack. From Macro’s opening track ‘On The Top’, which showcases all of their trademark sounds at once, to the superior musicianship and delivery of tracks like ‘Pausing Death’ and ‘Home Back’, to the viciously heavy reggae induced vibe on ‘Judgement (& Punishment)’, JINJER are making it known that they are here to take over in a huge way.
The songs themselves, extracted from the drama of the moment and what people wanted to write about then, are more applicable to Real Life than I thought they would be. Without the embarrassing angst of the 25-year-old, they are just songs about transitions, holding grudges or trying not to, letting go of things that aren't healthy, moving through difficult situations and relationships and trying to be "normal" in the course of all that, even though there's no such thing. We are lucky to have Allison Crutchfield, Matt Douglas, Peter Holsapple, Owen Pallett, and Jenn Wasner lend their great talents to the record and also lucky that Jon has an arsenal of small bells and a vibraslap.
On October 25th, acclaimed singer/songwriter Allison Moorer will release Blood (Autotelic Records / Thirty Tigers) the first solo album in four years from the Academy, Grammy, Americana and Academy of Country Music award nominated artist. Blood is not only Moorer s most personal and revealing work to date, but also her finest and most important. Blood stands on its own as a complete work, but the album serves as a companion piece to her anticipated autobiography, Blood: A Memoir, being released on October 29th through Da Capo Press, an imprint of Hachette Books. Blood: A Memoir is a detailed account of Moorer and her sister s (Grammy Award winner Shelby Lynne) childhood growing up in a troubled home in Southern Alabama, which ended with the well-documented murder-suicide of her parents in 1986. Much of what the public has known about the tragic event begins and ends there. For years Moorer had avoided going into the traumatic details of the abuse, alcoholism, intimidation, poverty and neglect, that existed prior to the deaths, and for good reasons which she addresses in the memoir. Moorer also addresses the fact that there was so much more to her family than tragedy, darkness and what people thought they knew. There was love, there was a protective mother, there was the bond of sisterhood and there was music. There was always music. The album Blood serves as a song cycle featuring ten tracks that directly connect to the people, emotions, trauma, and state of mind that are all detailed so eloquently in the memoir.

“This is something I wanted to do many years before MOTÖRHEAD finished. I talked to Lemmy about it many times and he always encouraged me. It just never came about because we were touring so relentlessly. But I kept the odd idea and riff from way back and never abandoned the idea. Now I felt the time was right to do it.” – Phil Campbell Some people just don‘t need an introduction and the Welsh rock titan Phil Campbell is on top of that list. As the guitarist of MOTÖRHEAD for more than 30 years, father of his hard rocking spawn BASTARD SONS, and a rock and roll luminary, Campbell is the stuff six string legends are made of. Slowly but steadily nearing his sixties, Phil Campbell still hasn‘t lost his hunger for the noise. After a highly successful record as PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS (the family rock act he pulled off with his own three sons) and a feverish run of live dates with the likes of GUNS ’N ROSES, he‘s about to shed his skin once again – only to reveal his own true self this time around. Ladies and gentlemen, we finally give you Phil Campbell solo, no strings attached, straight in your face, no remorse rock and roll. “Old Lions Still Roar” is armed with an arsenal of fierce riffing, anthemic hooks, pumping energy and no-holds-barred hard rocking fuel.

For principal songwriter and frontman Neige, ALCEST has always been a gateway to the otherworldly, a means of exploring his spirituality. An elemental two-piece, completed by long-serving drummer and creative confidante Winterhalter, their forthcoming sixth album “Spiritual Instinct“ finds Neige at his most personal. “This time I had something urgent to put on the table,” he explains. “It is a very cathartic record - something needed to get out of me. It’s darker than usual, and heavier.” Written in bursts both during and after a prolonged period of touring in support of 2016’s hugely successful “Kodama“, the sense of urgency Neige speaks of manifests in a record full of spontaneity, of immediate impact – be that in the breath-taking pace of the tempo changes in 'Les Jardin De Minuit'’ or the sun-kissed harmonies over an impermeable back beat in 'Sapphire', one thing “Spiritual Instinct“ has is riffs, an acknowledgement and celebration of the black metal foundations that anchor their uplifting post-metal. “Some real metal riffs!” agrees Neige. “I come from the metal scene originally and it never really left me; I used black metal as a teen as a way to escape from reality and that’s what I love the most about it. It’s the best type of music to express overwhelmingly darker feelings. I usually don’t speak about my darkness in ALCEST’s music but this time it felt like something I had to do.”
On Yeule's shimmering debut full length Serotonin II, the artist delivers on the promise of her early singles, inviting the listener into her dynamic and sensational world. Themes of identity and rebirth bloom from dreamlike melodies that exude vitality.
Jan Akkerman, the renowned Dutch guitarist who shot to fame during the 60s and 70s with bands like Focus, Brainbox and The Hunters, and was once voted Best Guitarist in the World by Melody Maker, will release his new album "Close Beauty" on October 25, 2019 via Mascot Label Group/Music Theories Recordings. "Close Beauty" is inspired from a simple notion, that when you are too close to an object you cannot see the real value. The instrumental album came together organically in a studio near Jan's hometown, and features Marijn van den Berg on drums, David De Marez Oyens on E-Bass and C-Bass and Coen Molenaar on keys. The stunning album cover, painted by Michael Cheval, fits the musical content of the album perfectly.
Goodbye June are three cousins who formed after the death of guitarist Tyler Baker’s brother in June (hence the band name), vowing to honour his memory with their soulful and life affirming sound. Having parted ways from major label Interscope after the release of their debut album ‘Magic Valley’ (2017), Goodbye June’s earthy, authentic sound continued to flourish and develop with 'Community Inn', a set of songs rich in texture, soul and bluesy atmosphere. Fusing hard rock licks with deep Southern blues and gospel swing, in part influenced by the band’s strict Pentecostal Church upbringing (a way of life they scorned for a career in rock n roll), the sound competes sonically with the new wave of hard rock acts like Greta Van Fleet, while adding layers of colour that references a wide spectrum from Led Zeppelin to Kings of Leon. SALES POINTS •Supported GRETA VAN FLEET on multiple tours across USA/EUROPE •Both CD & LP come with Goodbye June guitar plectrum shrink-wrapped to the album. •36 million total Spotify streams. •Extensive touring of USA/Europe including Greta Van Fleet, ZZ Top, Red Sun Rising ,Download Festival, & more European arena dates with ZZ Top, Halestorm and Blackberry Smoke. •Contributed ‘Liberty Mother’ for high profile nationwide Budweiser TV advert campaign. •Previously on major label Interscope but now signed worldwide recording deal with independent Earache Records. •Big support from Planet Rock Radio (1+ million listeners)
A collection of songs about life, love, loss and straight-up kicking ass. Ranging from top 40 pop and organic folk ballads, to EDM rises and drops, this eclectic album touches on many modern genres but still stays true to Walk off the Earth's signature sound.
On her third album, Little Scream offers us a reflection on class and poverty in America. Speed Queen began as bits of prose written while touring her last album across North America-observing the slow entropy of the US, ruminating on her own low-income upbringing in a flyover state, and, as she says, "taking it all in from the privileged position of being a new Canadian." Montreal-based songwriter and guitarist Laurel Sprengelmeyer has been playing music under the moniker Little Scream since 2008. In 2011, she released The Golden Record, which Pitchfork dubbed "a stellar debut" and NPR called "an absolutely captivating record." It was included in NPR's Best Albums of 2011 list, and the New York Times evoked it's "hints of the divine," including Little Scream as one of the best new acts to follow at SXSW. Her second album and Merge debut Cult Following, which features guests including Sufjan Stevens, Mary Margaret O'Hara, and Sharon Van Etten, earned Little Scream new band of the week status from The Guardian and received five stars from Bust Magazine.
On their sophomore album, Geowulf have a lot to say. The followup to their debut, Great Big Blue, represents an overall holistic growth. Loneliness is discussed at great length with brutal honesty; learning not only to accept it but also to love the space it provides. They also tackle the difficulties navigating the expectations we put upon ourselves and others. Pepper in life's heartbreaks and breakups, and it proves a beautiful mess. If teenagers have all the coming-of-age movies and novels to make sense of life's do's and don'ts, My Resignation is for the twenty-somethings.
Toby Keith is one of the most successful country artists, and artists in general, of all time. He has sold over 40 million albums in the US alone in his career. At radio he's had some staggering numbers. Toby has had 32 #1 songs and has had a #1 every year for 20 straight years amassing 50 million spins between 2000 and 2010 and has racked up 90 million performances. His successes don't stop there as he has won; 11 ACM Awards, 2 ACA Awards, 3 AMA Awards, 4 Billboard Awards, a People's Choice Award, been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, received the NSAI Songwriter of the Decade Award and was the top earning country musician for 2013 and 2014. In addition to all of that and his acting roles, he also held the #1 Comedy Album for 11 weeks for Bus Songs. Toby Keith s Greatest Hits: The Show Dog Years features 4 new songs, including 'Don't Let The Old Man In' from the movie The Mule directed by and featuring Clint Eastwood.
When Chris Stewart set out to write and record his third album as Black Marble, he was newly living in Los Angeles, fresh o a move from New York. The environment brought much excitement and possibility, but the distance had proved too much for the car he brought along. With it out of commission indefinitely, he purchased a bus pass and planned his daily commute from his Echo Park apartment to his downtown studio, where he began to shape Bigger Than Life. The route wound all through the city, from the small local shops of Echo Park to the rising glass of the business district, to the desperation of Skid Row. The hurried energy of the environment provided a backdrop for the daily trip. When Stewart finally arrived at his studio, he'd look through his window at the mountains and the sky, seeing the beauty that makes L.A. unique - the same beauty his fellow commuters, some pushed to the edge of human endurance, had seen. That was the headspace he was in when he began to map out the syncopated drums and staccato arpeggiation of Bigger Than Life, an ode to his new condition and a shimmering synth-pop response to it's cacophony. "The album comes out of seeing and experiencing a lot of turmoil but wanting to create something positive out of it," Stewart explains. "I wanted to take a less selfish approach on this record. Maybe I'm just getting older, but that approach starts to feel a little self-indulgent. So with this record, it's less about how I see things and more about the way things just are. Seeing myself as a part of a lineage of people trying to do a little something instead of trying to create a platform for myself individually." As with every Black Marble album, Stewart recorded, produced, and played everything you hear on Bigger Than Life using entirely analog gear, though the process was new. This time around, he wrote everything on his MPC and sequenced it live to his synths - only using the computer to record, not to create. "I try new approaches every time, which helps me stay engaged but also it's kind of a trick I play on the creative side of my brain," Stewart says. "Keeping one side of my mind busy on organizational creativity I think frees up the other side where the inspirational creativity comes from."
Rick celebrates his extraordinary story with the release of the new career-spanning compilation ‘The Best of Me’. It charts that initial run of hits alongside recent fan favourites such as ‘Keep Singing’, ‘Angels On My Side’ and ‘Try’. It also digs into some deep cut too, such as ‘Sleeping’ from 2001. The set is bookended with a step into the past and an eye to the future. Again self-written, produced and recorded, opening track ‘Every One of Us’ is a brand new song that shows that the power of Rick Astley 2.0 is undiminished. And it closes with a new ‘Pianoforte’ take on ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’. Dropping the peppy ‘80s beats for an intimate piano arrangement captures it in a new light, its inner heartbreak becoming all the more apparent.
GRAMMY® Award-winning and Country Music Hall of Fame members, The Oak Ridge Boys, will once again celebrate the Christmas season with their timeless hits and holiday classics on their 2019 Christmas album, Down Home Christmas, produced by Dave Cobb. The album includes standards such as "Amazing Grace" and "Silent Night," but also new favorites such as "Don't Go Pullin' On Santa Claus Beard" written by hit-maker Anderson East and "South Alabama Christmas," written by Jamey Johnson. Down Home Christmas marks the Oaks' 30th annual Christmas tour, eighth Christmas album, and third album collaboration with producer Dave Cobb.
Konradsen is the Oslo-based duo of Jenny Marie Sabel and Eirik Vildgren. Together they create pensive pop songs that explore the interior and weave a world uniquely their own. Konradsen's material is simultaneously sparse and full, a layered patchwork of hushed vocals, muted piano, atmospheric electronic productions and ambient foley. Their debut album, Saints and Sebastian Stories, is a collection of arrestingly beautiful piano-based pop songs, underpinned by a loose, hymnal quality, and imbued with a nostalgic warmth. As the music breathes, unexpected textures flicker in and out of the mix: clips from films that Jenny's father made in the 80s and 90s, conversational snippets from a family dinner, flashes of experimental production, harmonic tinkering on the piano. Konradsen are compelling in their homespun sincerity, and refreshing in their singular newness.
HaitiaNola is a once-in-a-lifetime album that brings together Haitian roots revivalcollective Lakou Mizik and an incredible line-up of guest artists from New Orleans. Inspired by the historical, cultural and spiritual connections between the people and music of New Orleans and Haiti, Mardi Gras and Kanaval traditions mix together like long-lost family members throughout the 14-track album. Presided over by GRAMMY-winning New Orleans producer Eric Heigle (Lost Bayou Ramblers, Arcade Fire, The Soul Rebels), guest artists on HaitiaNola include Trombone Shorty, Tank from Tank & The Bangas, Win Butler & Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Cyril Neville, Jon Cleary, Leyla McCalla, The Soul Rebels, Lost Bayou Ramblers, 79rs Gang, Raja Kassis (Antibalas), and Anders Osborne, among others. The result of this collaborative gumbo is a celebration that connects not only the rhythms and sounds of the two places but also the gritty energy, the unmistakable mysticism and the carefree Mardi Gras incantation of laissez les bon temps roulez (let the good times roll) that persists in both countries.
Manchester trio GoGo Penguin present Ocean in a Drop: Music for Film – a new 5-track EP, stemming from the band’s celebrated live soundtrack for Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 cult documentary Koyaanisqatsi. Recorded live, the expansive project carries a sense of poetry; the title nods to a quote from 13th-century Sufi scholar Rumi: “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.”
Alt-country trio Puss N Boots return with a new holiday EP featuring “Christmas All Over Again.” Comprised of acclaimed singer/songwriter Norah Jones on guitar, singer/bassist Catherine Popper and singer/guitarist Sasha Dobson. Puss N Boots first formed in 2008 as a live band performing around Brooklyn venues. After years of live performances, the trio decided to make a full-length album which resulted in their Blue Note Records debut No Fools, No Fun. The album was praised by Rolling Stone, Paste, American Songwriter and led to performances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and CBS This Morning. The group also appeared at numerous festivals including the Clearwater Festival, Green River Festival, and the Newport Folk Festival and opened for Neil Young during his tour in July 2015.
Eight men pick up shiny brass instruments, lock into an unspoken groove and rotate genres like your favorite playlist shifting from jazz and R&B to hip-hop, pop and beyond with fire, focus and fluidity. We re always thinking about pushing the envelope, says Marcus. We re willing to merge different worlds together you would be surprised by. This particular album made us dig deeper into the reservoir of feelings both artistically and emotionally, adds Lumar. Our band members brought out all kinds of thoughts. The record represents eight different individuals with a lot of soul, emotion and feeling. As early as 2016, the musicians commenced plotting their next move. This time around, they rallied around a shared willingness to experiment and devoted the longest period yet to writing, producing and recording between regular touring, of course. For the first time, they incorporated drum machines and experimental production techniques in addition to opening up the process to co-writers and co-producers. As a result, the twelve tracks comprising Poetry In Motion attain new levels of performance proficiency, sonic adventurousness and anthem-like songwriting acumen. We really opened the door to taking the brass ensemble and sound to a contemporary and very modernized musical place, explains Julian. In the past, we ve treated our albums like private and personal projects with no one involved in our process. Here, we opened the door for collaboration and innovation. Poetry In Motion was a long journey, because we utilized everything at our disposal. It s the most intricate as far as production and recording goes. It was an experience, adds Lumar. We wanted this album to have a focus. To focus on reflecting each band member s feelings, musical inspirations and influences while making the sound contemporary and hip, says Marcus. We wanted to give everything this time. It touches on hip-hop, jazz and brass within the context of a very modern sound. We wanted to reach more listeners and reflect upon the sound of music culture today. We did exactly what we planned to here, Julian leaves off. We didn t confine the sound to a perception of what New Orleans is or what a brass band is. You can have this sort of instrumentation and make it totally global, universal and modern. Poetry In Motion features a power packed line up of notable artists including: Tarriona Tank Ball of Tank and The Bangas, Big Freedia, Robert Glasper, Branford Marsalis, Matisyahu, PJ Morton, Trombone Shorty and KES.
